Patterns For Bedspread Quilts With Log Cabin Block

Working with 2.5 inches stripes before sewing. The regular size of a quilt log cabin block with 4 lines is typically 14 inches square. So if there are 7 stripes, each sewn stripe should be 2 in. (there are 0.25 in per side for seaming).

Table of sizes and blocks needed for a bedspread with 21 inches drop and covering the pillows. We are using 14″ squares. You can add a border to complete as needed.

Today we are presenting an experiment with patterns for bedspread quilts, using the same block pattern and whole design but solely changing the colors of the stripes. The 8 by 8 blocks quilt correspond to a Queen size.

You can experiment yourself by using fabric of various colors and achieving different results. It’s amazing how a simple change in one color can yield such different designs.

This is the log cabin block pattern. Consider that the measures are the result after sewing the pieces with 1/4″ seaming allowance on both sides.
